THE Buk Bilong Pikinini School located at Evedahana Primary School was a big winner yesterday, receiving K20,000 from Moresby North-East MP Labi Amaiu.

Buk Bilong Pikinini School used to be at the mercy of friends, corporate companies and overseas donors and was incorporated into Evedahana.

Amaiu committed K10,000 to Evedahana Primary  and Elememtary schools and an additional K50,000 to upgrade an ablution block.

Amaiu made the commitment while handing over a new 15-seater bus and opening a K400,000 double classroom at the schools.

He urged both Buk Bilong Pikinini School and the Elementary Class to use the money as seed capital and find ways to make money for their respective schools.

“I am sad today but what I give is commitment to ensure it helps and shapes our leaders of tomorrow,” he said.

Board of management chairman Eddie Keleya and the Evedahana Primary School headmaster Samuel Wala were among the delighted people yesterday after receiving the bus and double classroom.

Keleya said it was first for any local MP to assist their schools.

“The Evedahana Primary School caters for children living around 9-Mile, Bomana and 14-Mile areas,” he said.

The school caters for 1600 students in the North-East electorate.

Amaiu asked the communities to look after the properties.

“There should be no excuses by teachers for being late as this vehicle is the transport that will transport teachers and sick children in case of emergency,” Amaiu said.
