HUMAN resource development is the way forward to bringing development to Jimi in Jiwaka, MP Wake Goi says.
Goi gave a cheque for K20,550 to 11 Jimi students studying at the University of Papua New Guinea.
He said the fees could have been paid earlier but because of other district commitments and funds not being released quickly, he had to wait until there was money available.
Goi said under the joint district planning and budget priorities committee budget, they had allocated K300,000 to pay tuition fees for students from the district at tertiary institutions, teachers colleges and technical schools.
He said he would pay tuition fees this week to the other institutions around the country.
Final-year economics student at UPNG, John Gand, on behalf of the students, thanked Goi for honouring his commitment and said paying their tuition fees was a service that would go a long way in motivating other children in the district to pursue further studies.
