MP Kipefa, focus on development, not rugby
The National, Monday February 10th, 2014
IT is interesting that Obura-Wonenara MP Mehrra Minne Kipefa is behind the Titans rugby league for the then Sia Cup in Goroka and now the Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup in Lae.
While there is no issue with that, the timing is not right to venture into games as we are way behind in infrastructure developments.
We have had enough of previous MPs neglecting us and we expect developments as promised during your campaign.
One highlight of your campaign was to convert our district into a model district in Eastern Highlands and PNG.
However, we have not yet seen any concrete developments on the ground to achieve this and funding the rugby league team from the least-developed district’s purse is a slap in the poor people’s faces.
Let us not pretend that all is well.
Upgrading and sealing of the proposed Obura-Wonenara Highway has not started and a year has passed without any development, indicating that we are moving towards the wrong direction.
I advise the MP to revisit his policies and to start implementing some of them because they will become the foundation for his 2017 campaign where the people will judge him.
