MORESBY South MP Justin Tkatchenko yesterday launched the new Moresby South Health Record Book.

Tkatchenko had the books specifically made for the children of Moresby South and handed them to the health centres in the electorate at the Kilakila Urban Clinic.

“It’s about a brand new day,” he said.

“Promoting a healthier Moresby South – from better health record-keeping for our children from birth and give us a more accurate position to help the health needs of our children, our people and our growing population.”

Present to witness the occasion on behalf of the Health Department was acting chief medical officer, Duncan Dobunaba.

“This initiative is in line with the government’s free health care policy which will be launched in the coming weeks,” Dobunaba said.

“I thank the member for the initiative for his people. It is something the Health Department can work closely with,” he said.

The books will be distributed to the clinics around the electorate in Kilakila, Kaugere, Vabukori, Badili, Koki, Lawes Road and Gereka. They are free.

Tkatchenko took the opportunity to thank the Four Square Church and other NGOs for starting and operating the health clinics in Moresby South.

“My office will endeavor to work with these clinics to ensure basic health services are at their best possible state,” he said.
