MP pledges K50,000 support for rural hospital
The National, Thursday June 5th, 2014
ANGLIMP-South Waghi MP Joe Koim has pledged K50,000 for the Mingende Rural Hospital.
Koim made the commitment this week after visiting his sick mother there.
He said the hospital did not serve the people of Chimbu alone but the neighbouring provinces of Eastern Highlands, Jiwaka and Western Highlands.
“It is my gesture of goodwill and appreciation for the quality health services my people from Jiwaka have received over the years from this hospital,” he said.
“As leaders, we have this moral and constitutional duty to deliver to the people and make sure the basic service delivery mechanisms function effectively.
“Health and education facilities close to us must be appreciated and respected at all times because they are the foundation to the wellbeing of our communities, provinces and the country we live in today.”
Koim stressed that it did not matter where you came from but the passion to give voluntarily to others must always be embraced by people in their everyday life.
Catholic Health Services secretary Sr Elizabeth Koai was lost for words and thanked Koim for his help.
