MP: Proper roads key to economic growth
The National, Friday July 25th, 2014
PROPER road links are the key to economic growth and development, Petroleum Minister and Madang MP Nixon Duban believes.
He said he was investing more on roads in Madang believing that it is an economic link to growth and development.
“I see roads as an economic link and without this, infrastructures such as health and education will not be viable and our people will continue to suffer from lack of these basic services,” he
said.
He visited the roads he had funded through the District Service Improvement Programme (DSIP) to ensure work had been done to and up to standard.
These included the Mist-Kamba road funded by the Department of Works.
He was impressed with what he saw, he said.
Duban assured the Government that funding allocated for the road was used for clearance and so far 50%the work was complete.
He thanked the Government for its support.
“Once there is a better road, people will be happy and the flow of goods and services will reach everyone,” he said.
