ANGLIMP-South Waghi Mp Joe Kuli is giving one-tenth of his district services improvement programme (DSIP) funds to churches in his electorate.
Kuli, who is also Vice-Minister for Commerce and Industry, distributed K800,000 to 685 churches from 33 different church denominations based in his electorate on Friday.
The distribution of the money coincided with the unveiling of the five-year development plan of the district.
Kuli told a big gathering at Kindeng Junction on Friday that one-tenth of his K10 million DSIP rightfully belonged to God.
This was why he was giving money to the churches to strengthen their work.
Kuli said churches in his electorate played a very important role in the spiritual wellbeing of the people.
He said that there was peace in the district because of the churches.
Kuli said churches also provided other vital services like education, and health.
“I recognise churches as important partners in development and maintaining law and order and will continue to support them,” he said.
Kuli said that he would continue to give one-tenth of his DSIP every year to all churches in his electorate to support their work.
