GOILALA MP Daniel Mona is happy with the performance of Goilala students attending schools and institutions in Port Moresby and Central last year.

The district allocated nearly K1 million to help with their fees.

Mona was at Avabadina Primary School in Gabadi, Central, last Tuesday to donate K5,000 to the United Church-run school.

He committed K5,000 for the Avabadina Elementary School.

“When we started paying school fees for Goilala students, they did very well. Today we have the highest number of students at Sogeri National High School,”  Mona said.

“Last year, a Goilala student received a second dux prize at Laloki High School.”

Mona is the deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Referral Committee on Education. It is investigating the plight of teachers in the country.

Mona will visit Goilala students at the University of Goroka, University of Technology and Divine Word University when he travels there with the committee this month.

Schools that have received assistance include St Gerard School of Nusing, Hohola Youth Development Centre, Koki Technical College, Port Moresby Institute of Matriculation Studies and Kuriva Primary School.
