MORE than 200 University of Goroka (UoG) students received K500,000 to settle their fees from Goroka MP Aiye Tambua.
“Tambua is concerned with the education of the young people and wants to provide the support to enable them to excel at all levels,” Goroka executive officer Joe Seteri said, on behalf of Tambua at a cheque presentation last week.
“The financial support will grow for all.”
Seteri said on record UoG received the highest amount (K500,000) in support compared to other universities.
“Goroka relies on education as an investment because there are no mineral resources in the district,” he said.
“Tambua allocated K2.1mil to support Goroka students in universities.”
The support will benefit 214 students from the three local level governments in Goroka.
