SCHOOLS in the Kerema district of Gulf province will be provided  with computers and school exercise books as a measure by Kerema Open Member Titus Bombom to assist the students and the schools.
Under the District Services Improvement Programme a total of K300, 000 was set aside for the assistance to schools.
The assistance was a timely donation to the Malalaua Provincial High School as the school is undergoing financial constraints.
Just a week before the donation, the school was closed for two weeks due to lack of funds for its operation.
The principal, Samuel Muri is happy with the assistance, even though he is distressed  that the provincial government’s subsidy to the school fees component still has not been issued.
He added that many of the students only paid portions of this year’s school fees,  most of which was exhausted trough catering for the boarders.
Mr Muri stated that the school was  currently getting  assistance from most of the parents who continue to provide garden produce for the students’ meals at the mess.
