MP to stand trial

KOMO-Margarima MP Francis Potape will stand trial in the Waigani National Court on fraud-related charges on a date to be decided.Potape has been charged with misappropriating K60,000, money laundering and conspiracy.
He appeared yesterday before Justice Penuel Mogish after learning from media reports that he would be issued a bench warrant if he failed to turn up in court yesterday.His lawyer said Potape was busy in the highlands with the elections and was not aware of the date he was to appear in court.  Mogish said on Monday a bench warrant would be issued today if he failed to turn up in court.
The court will decide on a date for his trial.
