MP urges youths to respect projects
Usino-Bundi MP Jimmy Uguro has called on the youths in his electorates to respect the projects that he is implementing.
Uguro made the call following a confrontation by youths with a contractor working on the road construction in his electorate.
He visited wards 29 and 32 where the youth had misunderstood the reasons for the construction work being put on hold and tried to attack the contractors.
“The work did not stop it just slowed down because of funds but the youths due to a misunderstanding had a difference with the contractor so I had to visit them and explain to the youths,” he said.
“Any contract by the district authority to any contractor is still current and is still in progress there is no way it will stop.
“As long as I remain member, work must go ahead, it will only slow down due to funding.”
Uguro said the youths or any member of the community must have the courtesy ask him for information on the projects rather than confronting it themselves.
He said the delay of the project was due to the government prioritising funding for the local level government elections.
“That’s why we did not receive any district services improvement programme funds for this year which had resulted in the work being slowed down,” he said.
“As soon as we get the allocations for this year the work will resume in full force.
“My appeal to the youths and the community is to respect the member, DDA and the contractors providing services on the ground.
“Any issues with the project, they must contact me rather than confronting the contractors.
“Usino-Bundi is progressing well so far and I urge the people to align with the programmes.
“Since the district is progressing with developments, what is your position, are you going to be active in participating doing your part, you have to contribute.
“For example we have the iron roofing project underway and electricity is being rolled out, my people have to play their part to benefit from this project.”
