MP wants education to take priority

EDUCATION should be the top priority in every community, says Nipa-Kutubu MP Jeffery Komal.
Komal said school dropouts were tomorrow’s societal burdens and the district development authority prioritising the education sector was important and will continue.
He said health was second and the DDA would prioritise small and medium-sized enterprise that had played an important role in fostering growth, employment and income in Papua New Guinea, especially in the rural areas.
Komal said he wished for all students to have a secure, productive, and perceptive school year.
“I want parents to be encouragers and disciplinarians who insist on learning being part of the life of their child so that together we break the chains of poverty and educational deficiencies that bind people to a life of mediocrity,” he said.
During the festive period he visited schools and presented nearly K4 million to schools to improve infrastructures and others that did not receive would be given this year.
He said away from home, schools became the place for children to spend their time and were sent to school considering the fact that there were experienced hands to guide them.
