A NEW National Youth Commission Act should be ready by the end of next month, Parliament was told last week.

Community Development Minister Loujaya Toni said this when responding to a question from Milne Bay Governor Titus Philemon, who wanted to know if Parliament has passed the national youth policy as there was talk it had not been done and any action taken by the department under the policy was illegal.

Toni said the National Youth Commission stood on the 2007 national youth policy.  She said a new National Youth Commission Act was being drawn up and should be ready by the end of next month.

She said that would enable the National Youth Commission to work closely with youths throughout the country.

Meanwhile, Toni also told Parliament that she would table a full report on the national Christian churches consultative meeting that ended last week.

She said she would table a report about four regional meetings held to gauge the views of churches on the control of religion in the country.

She said this following comments from other MPs about reinforcing parts of the Constitution declaring PNG a Christian country.
