MINISTER for Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs Leo Dion has advised the MPs and Local Level Government presidents in Gulf to sort out their differences before an acting governor is appointed.

Kikori MP Mark Maipakai had questioned him in Parliament about the appointment of an acting governor since Governor Havila Kavo was currently fighting a court case.

He said the province needed a leader.

“The province is in dire strait at the moment. This is a very sensitive issue and how soon will an acting governor be appointed to bring back normalcy in the province?” Maipakai said.

Dion said the removal of Kavo as governor following his conviction on fraud-related charges was before the courts.

Dion said for the sake of good governance, the provincial leaders must quickly sort themselves out. He will endorse whatever arrangement is there to be done.
