VOLUNTARY charity organisation Life PNG Care (LPC) based in Port Moresby received a donation of K5000 from the Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) last Saturday.
Recipient and director Collin Pake, his wife Freda and teachers from schools that enrolled the 75 underprivileged children this year under LPC’s were presented the cheque by Mineral Resources Development Company public relations officer Iona Sharon Reto.
The occasion coincided with LPC’s annual photo session in its Strongim Pikinini Education Programme (SPEP).
Reto mentioned that managing director Augustine Mano was pleased to join other donors like Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd and National Airports Corporation to support LPC’s initiative in promoting human resource.
The funding would go towards paying enrolment fees and sorting out other registration processes.
The number of children increased to 75 this year and Pake said the organisation needed to raise K84,000 to keep all the children in school.
Pake said MRDC’s support as well as other donors’ showed the concern and commitment they had for underprivileged street kids to get an education.
“Children are the future of this country, that is why I keep stressing that the Government must develop a policy to help kids on the streets to go to school,” Pake said.
He said too much concentration was focused on adult issues.
