MRDC helps NCD school
The National, 01st March 2012
A SCHOOL in the National Capital District had every reason to celebrate yesterday after receiving a donation of K10,000.
Courtesy of the Mineral Resources Development Company, the donation will go a long way for the Bavaroko Primary School, which has a roll of more than 1,000 students.
Presenting a cheque to the school, MRDC official Imbi Tangune encouraged students to respect parents and teachers.
He said that would lead to respecting the community.
Tangune said people were the top resources and students should have dreams to work towards in their lives.
Headteacher Catherine Morisi praised the company for its efforts.
She assured the MRDC personnel who attended the presentation that the money would be used for its intended purpose.
School board deputy chairman Nelson Yano said the MRDC’s efforts would be recorded in the school’s history as one of very few corporate companies to have supported the school since its inception in the 1950s.
Yano said the school lacked other means of generating income except via school and project fees.
He said the board was transparent and concerned about the school.
The cheque was handed over to representatives from Paradise Tailoring, which will be responsible for students’ uniforms and grade eight graduation gowns.
Yano made further calls for parents to help with other initiatives for the school.
