THE Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) heart for education changed a young man’s life from Ialibu district, Southern Highlands, when they granted him sponsorship to study abroad.

David Kennedy, 24, is one of the lucky students MRDC is sponsoring to further their studies.

Kennedy, whose dream was to study economics since he was in primary school, is now in his second semester of being a freshman taking up bachelor of science in economics in University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu, Philippines.

Kennedy came to Cebu through the services of Paradise International Education Consultancy (PIEC), an education placement agency based in Cebu, Philippines.

PIEC has brought 190 PNG students to study in universities and schools in the Philippines since it started last year.

Kennedy said when he saw the opportunity to study economics in the Philippines through PIEC, he did not hesitate to grab it.

He then wrote a letter to ask for sponsorship from MRDC.

He is glad MRDC granted his request.

Seminars, tutors, student assistance, friendly staff, organised student recreational activities of PIEC make Kennedy feel at home.

“It is very interesting because there are constant assessments that help us learn,” Kennedy said.
