Mt Hagen city full of criminals and rubbish

 ON a recent trip to Mt Hagen, I was surrounded and frisked by a group of men in the middle of the town. 

This incident happened in front of the Hagen plaza building under the watchful eyes of a couple of bearded newspaper vendors. Not a single member of the public raised a voice to rescue me from the marauding thugs.  

In recent months, many other people have also fallen victim to these hooligans. People from the neighbouring provinces bring huge amounts of money into Hagen on a regular basis. 

Unfortunately, the present lawless situation is very likely to discourage movement of people into Mt Hagen from elsewhere. If nothing is done to address the current lawless situation, the city’s economy is going to be adversely affected.

 I believe the Western Highlands Provincial government needs to take stock of this law and order situation.
