TRUKAI Industries has donated 100 bags of rice to the Mt Hagen Provincial Hospital as New Year presents.
The 10kg bags of rice were presented to the mothers in the maternity ward but will be shared among all in-patients.
Trukai’s Highlands regional sales manager Jacob Areke, who made the presentation, said it was part of the company’s community support programme where they gave back to the people.
The programme helped all the Highlands region including schools, hospitals and other areas that were in need.
“Being the quality rice supplier in the country, we are pleased to give such donations where there is a need.’’
Hospital chief executive officer Dr James Kintwa thanked Trukai Industries for the timely help, adding this would save money for the hospital.
“The cost of running the hospital in buying food for the patients is very high and we are happy that the company has helped us,” he said.
Kintwa said the hospital catered for the Highlands region and the company’s help would directly benefit patients in the hospital.
Kintwa has challenged the people living and doing business in
Mt Hagen to look after the town and be responsible for their rubbish.
