THE Climb Against Cancer team is preparing well for next month’s Mt Wilhelm Challenge.

President of the campaign Mona Lisa Giheno said  training and awareness on cancer began in April and they had continued to do work out in small groups.

There are currently 61 registered climbers for the challenge.

The first team of climbers will depart Port Moresby for Mt Hagen on Aug 17.

The team has raised about K33,000 in Port Moresby.

Giheni said other events they had planned, included a dinner in Goroko and in Lae.

Goroka will have a cancer benefit dinner tomorrow at The Bird of Paradise Hotel and Lae will have theirs.

Tickets are K3500 for a table of 10 and Eastern Highlands Governor Julie Soso will be the guest speaker.

“Our hope with all our activities in different parts of the country is to localise the issue of cancer so people can see the importance of being aware about it and take measures to participate in preventing or mitigating cancer in their province,” Giheni said.
