THE Government is considering establishing a pilot and aviation engineering training school in the country, Civil Aviation Minister Davis Steven says.
He made the remark in parliament following a question raised by Madang Governor Jim Kas.
Kas said parents and airline companies were sending people to be trained overseas because there were no facilities available locally.
Davis told Parliament that a review was underway for the setting up of such as a school.
Davis said the Government was interested in the training model of the Missionary Aviation Fellowship Training Institute in Mt Hagen.
Kas asked David to consider setting up an aviation industry in Madang as it was ideally located.
Davis said Madang and the plains of the East and West Sepik would be considered as possible sites.
