MUNGKAS maintained their dominance of the Port Moresby Soccer Association Premier League with a 3-0 win over Maclaren in front a vocal crowd at the Bisini soccer grounds on Monday afternoon.
The David Passam-coached side made a strong statement when Daniel Vetali scored in the 32nd minute following a defensive scramble in front of goal.
Maclaren attempted to hit back soon after, forcing a save from goalkeeper Luke Kaprangi Jr.
However, Mungkas absorbed the pressure and regained control of the game putting Maclaren on the back foot.
Despite their best efforts in the second half, Maclaren could not keep pace with Mungkas as captain Abel Redenut got on the scoresheet before Vetali scored his second in the 76th minute when he leapt high at the post to connect a fumble from Denzel Apelis.
With defedning champions Mungkas leading the ladder comfortably seven points off the next best, the battle for second, third and fourth spots is on.
Mungkas have scored 32 goals while conceding five and have yet to lose a game this season.
