ETSU Mungkas put on a giant-killing performance in thrashing PS Rutz 3-0 in the Port Moresby Super League men’s football fixture at Bisini Oval last Saturday.
They were led by Andrew Maramapu, Vincent Lam and Kila Leana in their much-needed win to stay in contention for the finals.
The 3-0 victory sent a notice to Rutz senior players to lift their performance or make way for young blood, who can keep up with the pace of the game.
Komu, who played a good captain’s role in midfield, scored in the 18th minute and picked up his second goal for the afternoon in the 50th minute.
Lanky part Manus and Mekeo sweeper Shane Sindra scored in the 64th minute to put the game beyond their opponents.
PS Rutz had little success with their many chances as they were thwarted by the strong Mungkas defence.
Lanky veteran Paul Komboi and his side-kick Ken Gule were the only ones who stood out for the losers.
Credit should go to everyone in the Mungkas outfit for their strong and consistent performance.
In the other matches played on Saturday: University drew with Spartans 2-2 and VAT Yamaros banged Defence 2-0.
In the women’s super league matches, competition leaders, Guria thrashed POMSOE 4-0, while University hammered Yamaros 3-0, Lamana made their return to Bisini with an upset 3-1 win over PS Rutz.
