Muthuvel wants new courthouse

Kokopo needs a new courthouse, says West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel.
Muthuvel told Parliament this week that the Kerevat jail breakout last week was carried out by remandees or people waiting for their court hearing.
“This is not first time remandees have broken out of the Kerevat prison,” he said.
“They broke out because they were frustrated of waiting for their court hearing that has not taken place simply because Kokopo does not have a court house.”
Muthuvel said that the province needed a courthouse as it was causing a lot of issues and problems.
However, Minister for Justice and Attorney-General Davis Steven said there was a fully functional National Court in West New Britain.
