THE team set up in East New Britain to investigate the sinking of the mv Rabaul Queen are currently in New Ireland to continue their work.

The police officers are interviewing eyewitnesses, survivors and relatives of those who perished in the disaster on Feb 2, 2012.

The team led by Senior Sergeant Robert Wane left for Kavieng last weekend and would return after 21 days.

The team were sent to New Ireland in a directive from the Police Commissioner after a request for them to go to the province.

PPC Staff Officer Senior Inspector David Yapu confirmed that the team left last weekend for Kavieng.

He called on survivors and relatives of victims in New Ireland to see Wane and his team and help in their investigation.

The vessel sank in rough seas off the coast of Finschhafen, Morobe province.

Yapu said people in East New Britain who did not get a chance to see the team would be able to do so on their return from Kavieng.
