ACCOUNTANT Michael Makap, pictured, has been appointed the managing director of the Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited (MVIL).
Public Enterprises and State Investments Minister William Duma made the announcement yesterday after the National Executive Council endorsed the appointment on April 10. Duma said the position had been vacant after the term of the former managing director expired in April last year.
He thanked acting managing director Bafino Koi for holding the fort in the past 12 months.
Koi returns to his substantive position as the company’s chief financial officer.
Makap has extensive experience in finance previously working as a senior accountant for PriceWaterhouse Coopers, chief executive officer of the Wamp Nga Group of Companies, and recently as financial adviser and business development leader of Esso Highlands Ltd (ExxonMobil).
“The experience and qualifications of Makap will provide much needed leadership and change in the strategic direction of Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd,” Duma said.
