PEOPLE in Arawa, in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, will have a Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd office to serve them.

MVIL board chairman Dr Ken Ngangan said a site had already been selected and work would begin soon.

“We are targeting completion of the office space by early March,” Ngangan said.

He said police, business houses and the ABG officials in Arawa wanted services put in place immediately.

Ngangan said the initiative was a result of the recent trip by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and State Enterprises Minister Ben Micah to Bougainville.

“It is part of the restoration effort currently undertaken by the Government the ABG,” he said.

Ngangan said third-party motor vehicle insurance service and enforcement of the Motor Vehicle Act and traffic regulations in the ABG needed to be addressed.

“We are confident of addressing this long standing issue. MVIL as a state-owned enterprise sees this as part of our obligation to the government and the people that the service will be delivered. It’ll be done so in timely manner.”
