THE National Alliance Party needs to remain united and fight the national election as a stronger unit, says Western Highlands Governor Tom Olga.
Olga and Lufa Open MP Yawe Sulupa called for reconciliation among the NA members during the party’s highlands convention in Mt Hagen last Friday.
Olga, who used to be in the Somare camp but attended the convention with other MPs in the opposition such as Benjamin Mul, said the problem was created by the leaders in the party.
But he believed that there was room for negotiation to resolve the internal differences and remain united as a team.
Olga said whatever resolutions passed at the convention would be taken up to the national level.
He recognised Finance Minister and Treasury Don Polye as the party leader saying the team would lead the party into the national general election.
Sulupa urged other NA members in the Somare camp to return to the party fold so that they could form a united force going into the election.
He claimed that NA members from the coastal region were supporting Polye.
Sulupa said the party as an institution was bigger than any of them.
Polye urged NA members from the highlands region in the Somare camp to come back and strengthen the party, saying the door was opened to them.
He said if they refused to return, then the door would be soon closed to them.
Polye plans to retain the 24 members with him and endorse other candidates for other seats.
