THE Upper Nabak Carbon Trade area group wants their area to be included as the fifth area recognised by the national government.
Chairman Andrew Matta is appealing to the nine Morobe open MPs and Governor Luther Wenge to support their cause, saying the group had met all requirements.
Support from the leaders and the business community in Morobe will help the group secure funds from the Office of Climate Change and Development through the Vision 2050 plans.
Matta said the government should seriously address this area which was of paramount importance at a time when governments around the world were addressing global warming issues.
He said, the OCCD, under the leadership of Dr Wari Iamo should plan to visit and consult the people on the ground, where they should be informed on the technicalities of the legislative policies and strategy frameworks.
He voiced concern about the OCCD’s relationship with provincial governments.
He said provincial governments should crack down on illegitimate resource owners and “carbon cowboys”,  to free genuine people from legal implications like those from logging and mining areas.
