THE National Airports Corporation (NAC) has
clarified that the Enga provincial government contributed K5 million to the Wapenamanda fencing project.
A company statement said the funds had not been used and the contracts for the project were yet to be awarded.
NAC corrected a media report which quoted local MP Rimbink Pato as saying the contract value of the project was K8 million and that little or no work had been done after the contractor left.
“This statement is factually incorrect as there was no K8 million contract awarded nor was any work done on site and there was no money paid out to any contractor,” the NAC said.
“Enga provincial government’s contribution of K5 million is still with NAC and not yet used.
“No contracts have been awarded yet after the retender.
“The organisation expects contractors with experience and capacity to deliver its projects at the highest quality possible and within time and on budget to achieve value for money.
“NAC called tenders through the public tender process in the local newspapers for contractors within Wapenamanda or outside to bid.
“All bids were received, evaluated, recommendations made and contract awarded and signed.
“Construction was delayed due to issues within the company that was not within the scope of the tender evaluation process to detect.
“The NAC retendered the contract and is now in the process of evaluation this week.”
