NAC firmly behind Nadzab
NADZAB Airport in Lae is an important hub for PNG in terms of socio-economic development and the National Airports Corporation (NAC) is fully committed to supporting it, NAC acting chief executive officer Rex Kiponge says.
Kiponge said NAC was committed to ensuing that they continued to provide airport facilities and services that were safe and secure to support socio-economic development and the growing demand for air transport services.
“Nadzab is currently undergoing major rehabilitation at a cost of K692 million funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency, in partnership with the Government,” he said.
“Once upgraded, it will have the capacity to accommodate larger aircrafts such as the Boeing 737 and will also serve as an alternative airport to Port Moresby’s Jackson International Airport.
“It is, therefore, crucial that we have essential services up to standard and functioning effectively here at Nadzab Airport.”
