HIGHLANDS, Morobe and Madang are the three main areas that will be targeted under the National AIDS Council (NAC) awareness campaign during this election period.
National AIDS council secretariat manager marketing and alliance Margret Munjin said they were targeting those areas because of the mobility of people during the election period along the Highlands Highway.
NAC would be putting up billboards, running radio jingles and television advertisements to combat the spread of HIV, sexual transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies.
Munjin said their election slogan was “your election, your right, your vote, your choice, your health makes PNG HIV-free – tingim bihain taim”.
She said they would also be issuing 10,000 posters carrying these messages.
“We would like to print more but due to budget limitations we can only print that much,” she said.
Munjin said they planned to launch their campaign in Lae, Morobe, on Thursday.
She said they were supposed to have started their campaign early but were unable to do so due to situations beyond their control.
