Nadzab fire station commissioned

NATIONAL Airport Corporation (NAC) has recently commissioned the newly built fire station at Nadzab Airport in Lae, Morobe, for aviation rescue and firefighting.
The fire station was built as part of the Nadzab Airport Redevelopment Project (NARP) which was jointly funded by the Government and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (Jica) ODA loan.
In a statement, NAC’s acting managing director and chief executive officer, Joseph Tupiri said aviation rescue and firefighting was an invaluable service in the aviation business in the country.
Tupiri said that investment in the facility underscored the NAC management’s commitment to its core business of providing safe operations and remaining compliant with regulatory requirements.
Meanwhile, the contractor of the fire station, Dai Nippon-Nippo Joint Venture, also officially handed over three new airport rescue fire trucks which were also purchased as part of the Nadzab Airport redevelopment project.
“The firefighting vehicle complements the operations of the newly built fire station,” Tupiri said.
“This would then enable Nadzab firefighting personnel to respond faster and more efficiently to protect lives and aircraft in an emergency.”
