Nafund appoints new secretary

THE National Superannuation Fund Ltd (nasfund) has announced the appointment of a new secretary and an independent director on its board of trustees.
The appointment of secretary Doris Gedare was effective as of Nov 1 while director Julienne Leka-Maliaki took up the role last month.
Gedare replaced Jack Parina while Leka-Maliaki replaced former director Hulala Tokome as an independent director.
Gedare was previously nasfund’s manager legal for six years.
She has a law degree from the University of PNG and has been a practicing lawyer for more than 20 years.
Chairman Charles Vee thanked Parina for his services and welcomed Gedare to the role.
“It is pleasing to see an appointment within the fund to this important position as it demonstrates the pipeline of talent inside nasfund to move up as positions became available,” he said.
“We are pleased to acknowledge Gedare’s promotion on merit to the executive team of the fund which now comprises of four women.
“We are confident Gedare will continue to build on the good work started by her predecessor and look forward to her contribution.”
Leka-Maliaki has over 26 years of experience in policy development, trade investment facilitation, economic governance, private sector development and development cooperation.
Leka-Malikai’s experience in both the public and private sector was an addition to the board.
