Nalau hits back at land bribe claims
The National, Friday March 28th, 2014
MOROBE deputy governor Judas Nalau has blamed former governor Luther Wenge for causing many of the land problems in Lae.
Wenge called on the new Morobe lands board members to reject any bribes on land matters.
Nalau said the new board was made up of people of integrity and honesty.
He said Wenge should instead look back at his former lands board and what they had done.
Nalau said a lot of State and traditional land were grabbed by people who produced fake titles.
“Wenge should look at his own record before he opens his mouth about land issues in Lae city and Morobe as a whole,” Nalau said.
“He was too busy worrying about national issues and running to the National and Supreme Courts and forgot about issues at home.
“Too much State and traditional land were taken from the State and the people when Wenge was in power.
“We have inherited a huge problem which we are trying to resolve.”
Nalau said the new board would have its first meeting soon.
“We will be starting with the bulldozing of illegal structures at the old airport land which has been erected on land owned by Angau Hospital as ordered by Governor Kasiga Kelly Naru,” Nalau said.
“Next will be Apex Park and the sports oval next to Scout Hall. Notices have been sent out to the illegal land grabbers to voluntarily pull down their fences or we will send in the bulldozers within seven days.”
