PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill criticised the continuous outbursts by opposition leader Belden Namah on the failed public servants housing scheme and the renovation of the Maria House (Pineapple building) at Waigani.

O’Neill yesterday described Namah’s comments as "blatant lies" and said he was misleading people by pandering gossips in the press and in social media.

He said he has instructed his lawyers to pursue defamation charges against Namah.

"Namah has never contributed any solutions to issues like the public service housing, the K6 billion Chinese Exim Bank dialogue and the Pineapple Building," O’Neill said.

"He does not have any contribution on education, health, law and order, infrastructure and empowering the people through small to medium scale businesses.

"He does not have alternative policies and opens his mouth to tell lies and mislead people."

He said his answers on the failed public servant housing has been straight forward and that none of the money will be lost as all the K31.5 million will be repaid.

On the K6 billion loans from the Chinese Exim Bank, he said no transaction that had taken place and the government was only trying finding a facility to borrow money for improvement of major infrastructure in the country.

The prime minister said Namah has also misled the people on the Marai House (Pineapple Building) renovation.

He said the actual cost was K52 million and was awaiting the state solicitor’s approval while the other K20 million would be committed for fittings and furniture, including the ground work and tenders would be out after all architect work was completed.
