OPPOSITION leader Belden Namah will ask for an audit into the overseas trips by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

He said O’Neill was one of the “most travelling Prime Ministers the country has ever had”.

O’Neill has travelled on official duty to the United States, Marshall Islands, Japan, China, Australia, Indonesia, Bali, Fiji and New Zealand.

O’Neill was yesterday completing a two-day state visit to Israel and plans to visit India and Thailand soon.

Namah told a press conference at Parliament House that the people of PNG needed to know that the prime minister was accountable to the taxpayers.

“I will be asking for an audit of the prime minister’s travel,” he said.

“He has been travelling far and wide and has been frequenting Pacific Island countries like Fiji.”

He said the money spent on the travel could have been used to fund the health system.
