Namah slams airline for travel blunder

OPPOSITION Leader Belden Namah has criticised Air Niugini for allowing a flight from Hong Kong into the country without checking passengers for their medical clearance certificates as regards the coronavirus.
Namah said the airline “seriously compromised the health and security of the people of PNG”.
He called on the airline management to explain why it allowed passengers on board without conducting the proper checks.
“Why are they allowing people to come into the country without proper medical checks?
“The Government needs to look into this immediately and check all those passengers who came on (PX19) flight on Tuesday morning,” he said.
Three PNG students forced to flee China this week because of the pandemic and came on that flight said they were told at the check-in counter in Hong Kong that there was no need to produce any medical clearance certificate because many passengers were not aware they needed to get one.
Air Niugini in a statement said it was working with the Government and authorities in Hong Kong, Singapore and Manila to implement measures to mitigate the coronavirus risk.

  • Sac air niugini CEO. He’s sleeping on fat salary package and feeling too comfortable to even get up and see what’s happening
