SUSPENDED Opposition Leader Belden Namah has withdrawn his instructions to the law firm representing him in a Supreme Court application questioning the constitutionality of Prime Minister James Marape’s election last year.
The firm’s senior lawyers Greg Sheppard and Philip Tabuchi had been representing Namah since Sept in a Supreme Court application filed against the election of Marape.
It was revealed in court that Namah withdrew his instructions after the court on Thursday postponed to the next day his application seeking an extension of time to appeal an earlier court decision.
It is understood Namah was seeking an extension to file a slip rule application against the five-man bench Supreme Court ruling of May 29, as his 21 days to appeal the decision had lapsed on Friday.
Namah had engaged Mathew Tamutai, of Tamutai Lawyers, who on Friday withdrew the application filed by Young and Williams on extension of time to appeal the decision of Supreme Court which found Namah still suspended.
Tamutai had filed a new application in the Supreme Court seeking leave of the court to file a slip rule application against the decision of the Supreme Court.
