MORE than K400,000 worth of household goods were recently distributed to improve the lives of people in Namatanai, New Ireland, thanks to local MP Walter Schnaubelt’s programme.
Schnaubelt, who is also Forestry Minister, presented roofing irons, pig fencing, ovens, water tanks and household solar lights to the West Coast Central local level government (LLG) wards.
The presentation was made through his “project 79” initiative.
The initiative is to distribute household goods to 79 people at a value of over K110,000 to each LLG ward.
The launching was in Kontu, also known for their “shark callers”, for wards 19 and 20 and the next in Bimum for wards 21 and 22.
Schnaubelt handed out cheques to support schools and churches in the electorate as well.
He said he was in the parliament for only three years and urged the people to trust him and the Government to deliver basic services.
“You are priority number one, which is why I am here,” he told the people.
“You did not vote me into parliament to play politics, but to deliver services.”
