SPORTS store PNG Nambawan Trophy, yesterday donated K10,000 worth of new sporting equipments to the NCD Volleyball Association in Port Moresby.
Andrew Clarke, group operation manager presented the equipment to NCD representative Kila Nao and the NCD head coach Michael Unatah in a brief ceremony.
Noa thanked NWTH for coming on board to support NCD volleyball.
Clark said they had supported NCD during the national championships and they want to extend it to local competition.
NCDVA is one of the premier volleyball associations in the country.
It was established in 1992 with five clubs.
“Since the beginning, the association never had an official sponsor.
“We survived with club’s entry fees alone, but on the positive note, we have dominated the past and present PNG national team with our players and officials,” Nao said.
The competition has produced some great players of yesteryears such as John Kombeng, Vali Alu, Unatah, Jack Dick, Terry Kupa and currently, Ula Gima, Richard Kila, Vela Ralewa, George David, Boniface Irisia, Genamo Kila, Mariana Haoda and Patricia Gima.
Richard Kila and Moha Opa also represented PNG in beach volleyball and came second to Australia in the Olympic qualifiers.
