Nambawan Super is urging retired public servants who have exited the fund between January 2016 and April 2021, and are still waiting to be paid their previously “unfunded contributions” to contact them.
Chief executive officer Paul Sayer said there were 3,500 former public servants who had exited the fund and currently had their final benefits available to them.
“Since 2018, Nambawan Super has received regular payments from the State to fund unpaid public sector employer contributions from prior to 2009,” he said.
Sayer clarified that only former members with very specific circumstances had money become available after they exited the fund.
He urged public servants to contact the Nambawan Super branch in their provinces to determine if their final benefits were now available and if they meet the conditions which were:

  • THEY were employed in the public service and a member of Nambawan Super before Jan 1, 2009;
  • THEY exited the fund and received their first exit payment between January 2016 and April 2021; and,
  •  THEY were advised they were owed a second and final benefit payment that would be available after a few months when paid by the State.
