THE Ox and Palm kickboxing third heat scheduled to be held in Lae last Friday has been deferred to Saturday.

In an email last week, event coordinator and Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Association president Stanley Nandex (pictured) said the tournament’s organising committee had agreed to the deferral.

The tournament was deferred because it coincided with the local level government elections, support funding from the office of Morobe Governor Kelly Naru had yet to be released and that Team East Sepik had yet to arrive in Lae.

“This event will affect some of the members democratic right to vote and the funding has not been released yet,” Nandex said.

“On behalf of the organising committee and the PNGKBA we would like to express our sincere apology to our major sponsors, participants and the media for the changes to this event.”

The event will feature 60 kickboxers from Morobe, Madang and Sepik and will be staged at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.
