PAPUA New Guinea kickboxer David Nane will fight in the F16 Gymnasium International show against Justine Junior in the 65kg weight-class on August 6 in Melbourne, Australia.
Nane, 24, from Kopiago, Hela, was confident of his chances after training under  local Muay Thai champion Henry Lee Garap.
Nane said the F16 Gym picked him as Junior’s opponent for the show and the Highlander is expected to give the Australian an entertaining bout.
Known as the “Jungle boy”, Nane has already fought four bouts in Australia, winning three and is hoping to snare a belt in his fifth fight  in the south.
Since starting in the sport in 2009, Nane has had 26 fights with 18 wins, six losses and two draws.
Eight of his wins came by way of knockout.
After the August bout, Nane returns to Port Moresby to fight in Garap’s show slated for September.
He then returns to Sydney for an October 18 date against another Australian opponent.
Nane, who fights out of the National Capital District Kickboxing Club, said he needed to raise K10,000 to be able to attend the two shows in Australia.
“These funds would go towards my return airfares and accommodation, including other expenses, during my participation in Melbourne and Sydney,” Nane said. He said he was confident of turning out a strong performance at the meet.
