RABIZ Narduk say consistency is crucial to their title hopes in the National Capital District Darts Association competition.
Narduk were formed in 2016, comprising players from Iewa Sibou (premier division).
Taking on the challenge of nurturing a new team, they maintained their bond, having family ties among each other.
One of the founders of Narduk, Anthony Kelep said: “It was an initiative by youngsters at the time to move away from our parents and seniors to be on our own.”
He translated the team’s name as “Rubbish Child” with the latter term originating from the N’Drou dialect of the western coast of Manus.
Having reached the 2021 semifinals, Narduk are upbeat about reaching their maiden grand final this season.
Occupying the sixth spot on the ladder, they have so far been consistent this season with Sunday’s 6-3 win over Vemps the latest of a series of strong performances at Sports Inn.
The season will continue tomorrow for all teams.
Sunday will be reserved for the association’s men’s and women’s train-on squads to train for the national championships which will be held in Kavieng, New Ireland, in September.
Meanwhile, association president Dr Kapua Kapua installed new dartboard cabinets and blade boards, complete with lights, at Sports Inn yesterday.
The association, which boasts 20 clubs and about 400 members, can now bid for and host national and international tournaments.
Kapua said he was hopeful of hosting corporate matches next year.
