MOROBE Governor Kelly Naru has commended the Huon Gulf MP Ross Seymour and his predecessor Sasa Zibe for working together to serve the district.
“This is a new trend of attitude in service delivery and I acknowledge the effort by the two leaders,”  Naru said.
He made the remarks during the launching of the new vessel mv Morobe Rainforest II at the Morobe Coastal Shipping Services wharf in Lae on Wednesday
Naru thanked the Zibe for initiating the purchase of the ship and the current member for successfully delivering it.
He quoted two Bible verses to emphasise the value of true leadership – 1 John 4:7 and 1 John 3:18 – which described the quality of good attitude symbolising love.
“I have been waiting for this moment and I congratulate you both for the combined effort in service delivery,” Naru said.
“Good attitude can only be proven in actions and you have proven this through the delivery of the shipping vessel.
“At last the hopes and wishes of Morobe people have been fulfilled.”
The vessel was purchased under the Huon Gulf administration and will serve the five coastal districts in Morobe.
Naru said the vessel was an achievement for the Huon district witnessed by the people.
He suggested that the new vessel should also serve the East and West Sepik provinces if possible.
He further acknowledged the support given by  Aitape-Lumi MP and Minister for Treasury Patrick Pruaitch.
Naru described the defunct Lutheran Shipping as a “sad state of affairs” saying that the Government could not wait for the company to recover because shipping services had to be delivered to the people.
