MOROBE Governor Kelly Naru has paid tribute to the late Pastor Jeffery Pomaleu for his contribution to the province’s development.
He was the PNG Union Mission president. Naru said Pomaleu had been providing spiritual leadership to almost 700,000 Seventh Day Adventist church members.
Naru said Pomaleu supported the growth of Morobe province through the Adventist Development Relief Agency by providing social services in health, water and sanitation.
Pomaleu served the SDA church for 36 years and was a secretary before being appointed president of the mission.
Naru gave K10,000 and two cows to the haus krai last Friday.
He said he learnt about Pomaleu’s leadership through the Christian churches partnership programme which extended its service to Garaina, Markham and at Buhalu in Labuta, Nawaeb.
A memorial service was held at the Sir Ignatius Kilage indoor stadium on Monday.
He is survived by wife Jacobeth and children Nathan, Joanne and Jeffery Jnr.
