MOROBE Governor Kelly Naru insists on terminating the sponsorship of Morobe students involved in the boycott of classes at the University of Technology.
Naru wrote on Monday to the president of the Morobe Students’ Association, Joel Kenny, directing him to show cause in writing by tomorrow why their sponsorship should not be terminated.
Students are in their fourth week of boycott over the government’s failure to reinstate Dr Albert Schram as vice-chancellor.
However, several Morobe students at Unitech, who were contacted by The National, argued it was impossible for a few students to force their way into class when the situation was tense and there was no lecturer on duty.
Kenny could not be reached for comment but students said “it is just too risky and impossible when there were no lecturers coming to work and the administration building is in lockdown”.
