MOROBE Governor Kelly Naru was a happy man witnessing the Joint Services College re-launched at Igam Military Barrack in Lae, Morobe last Thursday.

Naru said the occasion of the reactivation of the Joint Services College was very significant and historical because the important institution would train the brains of all the disciplined forces in this country.

The governor, on behalf of the city of Lae and Morobe province, acknowledged the O’Neill-Dion Government for re-establishing the institution.

Naru said the provincial government was committed to the partnership even before college was not re-established when it provided funding for renovation work on dormitories and houses at the barracks two years ago when Morobe hosted the PNG Games.

He said provincial government put money in helping its sportsmen and women host at Igam during the games.

“And that partnership is there and I want your officials to feel free to continue the partnership — where we can assist we will come in and assist.

“Together in this partnership with our other partners from Australia and New Zealand and other stakeholders, I believe we can resurrect this place and truly bring it back to its former glory,” Naru said.

He said the running of the institution for the disciplinary forces needed logistics and suppliers as the barracks was in an ideal location to source from business houses as well as the local community in the area.

“And I encourage you to do that so that we sustain you and you also sustain our community.”
